About James Prine
James was born in Hammond, Louisiana, on August 23rd, 1951. His early years were spent in Chalmette (a suburb of New Orleans), with weekend jaunts to Ponchatoula and Tickfaw...small towns north of Lake Pontchartrain. Later, the Prine family moved to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
James Prine has served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He became a Deputy Sheriff in 1975. During his career in law enforcement, Prine has worked for Municipal, Parish (County), State, and Federal law enforcement agencies, in a variety of assignments, including Patrolman, Shift Supervisor, Police Diver, Field Training Officer, Detective, Special Agent, Unit Training Sergeant, Crime Scene Technician, Narcotics Dog Handler, and Emergency Medical Technician.
Licensed as a Private Pilot and Amateur Radio Operator, Prine is also a Master Scuba Diver, an award-winning Photographer, and a seasoned Parachutist. He is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, the Police Marksman Association, and also belongs to New Orleans' Crescent City Lodge #2 of the Fraternal Order of Police. He is also is a Master Mason, Ideal Lodge 367, F.& A.M.
